The Learning Environment at Core

At Core, we believe a great education extends beyond the four walls of a classroom. Our learning environment is designed to be expansive and enriching, offering high school students a unique blend of intellectual rigor and real-world resources.

We’re fortunate to hold our classes on the campus of Gordon College. This partnership gives our students access to valuable resources that enhance their academic journey. Students can use the Jenks Library for research and study, providing a collegiate feel to their work. They can also use the Lane Student Center to relax and socialize with peers, fostering a sense of community outside of class time. This campus setting provides a more mature, independent atmosphere that helps prepare students for college life.

Inside the classroom, we engage students with methods that cultivate deep thinking. We prioritize Socratic/Harkness discussions, where our teachers guide students through thoughtful dialogue to analyze texts and ideas. It’s a dynamic, hands-on approach where students learn to ask incisive questions and contribute constructively to a shared learning experience.

Our curriculum also emphasizes active and experiential learning. Whether it’s collaborative group work, student presentations, or project-based assignments, we deliberately choose methods that require direct engagement. Our teachers serve as mentors, providing personalized feedback and building strong relationships that inspire intellectual curiosity.

By combining the resources of a college campus with our dynamic, low-tech classroom methods, we offer a truly unique learning experience. At Core, we’re not just teaching subjects; we’re cultivating a love for learning in an environment that is both academically challenging and intellectually engaging.
